Zack, please see my thread here. I have been following the ecological and climate emergency for 56 years. Not once in all that time, has any government or mainstream politician, ever taken any meaningful binding action to address this crisis. skywriter.blue 1/8

What I mean by meaningful action, is any significant action, that would halt or reverse the systematic destruction of our natural life support systems.. They could very easily do this, but they make meaningless token gestures, which make no overall change to the direction of travel. 2/8 Let me give an example. Since the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and the signing of the UNFCCC, has there ever been an agreement, to phase out the burning of fossil fuels, but that is what the UNFCCC was expected to achieve. Governments refuse to do this at every COP talks. un.org 3/8

We've had countless convoluted schemes to supposedly reduce emissions. None of these schemes has made the slightest bit of difference to rising emissions. The Keeling Curve plots rising atmospheric CO2 levels. It shows a steady rise in CO2 levels, not one deviation. keelingcurve.ucsd.edu 4/8

I have no idea how governments and mainstream politicians have maintained this 100% consistency in every major government in the world, never ever agreeing to a major action, that would stop any of these adverse trends, let alone reverse them. 5/8 I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, if they are all members of some secret society, where they take a blood oath*, to never take any action, that would stop rising emissions and stop further biodiversity loss. But that is effectively what they have done, for over half a century. 6/8 As I say, governments and mainstream politicians could have quite easily made binding agreements to phase out fossil fuel burning and biodiversity loss, by a certain date. They made major pledges, that they would do this, but they just forever procrastinate. 7/8 I think it is safe to say, that after, over half a century of procrastinating, and never once making any sort of binding agreement to stop any of the systematic destruction of our natural life support systems, that secretly they are totally committed to never doing this i.e. they're lying to us. 8/8 * I should make it clear that I was being facetious about our mainstream politicians being in a secret society, where they take a blood oath, never to take any meaningful climate action or to halt biodiversity loss. It's probably they're simply just all corrupt and bought.
