Kind of amazing how nakedly dishonest are Wes Streeting's lot when it comes to suppressing data on young people taking their own lives in consequence of the withdrawal of gender affirming care. 🤯🧵 So, a few weeks back I put up an Instagram Reel about a report that we had uncovered, compiled by the National Child Mortality Database which was being suppressed from publication. instagram.com
It was referred to a letter from NHS England in response to (yet another) suicide of a young trans person associated with the NHS's de facto withdrawal of the healthcare young trans people need, Jason Pulman, may he rest in peace. bbc.co.uk
You can read the letter here. It talks of a report completed in March 2024 "to identify... themes for learning that will be shared with local CYP mental health teams so that they are aware of increased risk and can consider enhanced suicide prevention strategies." judiciary.uk
We asked the National Child Mortality Database for a copy of the report. And here is what it said: "the requested information is intended for future publication" so they wouldn't provide it.
So we asked when it would be published and they said in 2026. Outrageous, right, that they would commission a report to help prevent the suicide of young trans people and then suppress its publication for two years or more. That's what my Reel was about - but it gets worse!
I left it there for the moment but the brilliant Trans Kids Deserve Better ran this protest and our friends at @wearequeeraf.com began to take an interest. transkidsdeservebetter.org

QueerAF (if you don't know, don't ask) asked the National Child Mortality Database (which remember had refused to publish the report because it was "intended for future publication") for a copy of the report and it said this: "the work was not intended for publication."
Hang on! So it refuses to give us the report because it tells us "the report" "is intended for future publication" in 2026. And it tells @wearequeeraf.com (1) there is no report and (2) "the work was not intended for publication". What an absolute disgrace Wes Streeting's lot are.
(By the way, please support the amazing @wearequeeraf.com, I do.)
