...in negotiations with MPs and ministers about the Equality Act at this time I can assure everyone that nothing of the sort was proposed. This is supported by Hansard, in which there is no mention at all about the Bill including any blanket ban on trans people using single-sex spaces... 2/5 Indeed, when North Carolina introduced a similar toilet ban in 2016 the then UK government issued a travel warning to LGBT+ people about North Carolina. ...such a travel ban would not have been issued because conditions in N Carolina would have been the same as in the UK. The fact that some commissioners are making this claim should, in my view, be a sackable offence, it would seem to me that they are not competent to continue in post. 4/5 Also if any EHRC commissioner thinks that trans people are ever going to accept reduced human rights relative to cis people they REALLY do not know trans people. IMO once again this is a transparent and truly pathetic attempt to make us give up. It suggests that our campaigning is succeeding. 5/5
