My alternative to all explaining ideologies, which I see as all flawed, because they are just a vehicle for power, and will be hijacked and used by unscrupulous power mongers who don't stick to the ideology, think Stalin, Mao etc - is as follows. See below: 1/🧵
My latest thread on one page. Here I counter the false and scurrilous claim that I myself, are proposing an ideology. A demonstrably false argument. I blocked the person making this claim, because I don't engage with those who use knowing false argument and sophistry. skywriter.blue

Instead of all singing and dancing ideologies, which falsely claim to explain everything, we need a set of guiding principles, approximations of what that party, political grouping, movement aims to stick to i.e. working together for the common good, aiming to avoid inequality etc. 2/ The false certainty of ideologies, is what gives them power, which is why are hijacked by dictators, wannabe rulers, claiming to control the ideology which explains everything. This is most easily seen in the context of organized religions. 3/ The simple fact, is all these all explaining ideologies are false. For a start, they can't all be true, and they're contradictory. They are all based on the ridiculous premise that the original authors of these ideologies are all knowing, and got it all right. Very unlikely, actually impossible. 4/ The reason these clear guiding principles have not been used, despite their being known about for thousands of years, is that they are not a vehicle for power. Current controllers of ideologies, whether religious or political, claim special insight derived from the ideology they control. 5/ The controllers of these ideologies are nothing but conmen. Their ideologies do not explain everything like they claim, it is a flimflam. The most successful method for determining how things are, is science. Which itself is not a singular thing. There are no scientists, who know it all. 6/ There are no absolute facts in science, just a series of paradigms, which shift and change in jumps, scientific revolutions, when new discoveries are made. See, Thomas S Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. en.wikipedia.org 7/

I am not advocating scientism here, simply illustrating how a methodology, which has been the most successful means of determining how things are is not fixed, and is ongoing. There are no absolute texts like in religion, it is just a process. 8/ This illustrates why ideologies which attempt to explain everything are fake, why they are flimflam. Because the chance of individual thinkers successfully explaining how things are, is ridiculous, absurd, because they are not as rigorous as science, and science never finds absolute certainties. 9/ The findings of science are always approximate, until further, always ongoing work, produces ever better models of reality, with the old paradigm, being replaced by the newer paradigm. However, these approximations are much better than guesswork and random theories (ideologies). 10/ Climate change deniers, anti-vaxxers etc, all use this trick. Science isn't certain, so they claim their stupid conspiracy theory is just as good as science. No it isn't. If you find a massive cliff, and are unable to exactly measure it, a sound approximation, will always be better than a guess. 11/ People seeking power, don't like the best available approximation approach, because it doesn't allow their flimflam of false certainty, and to have special knowledge, that only they know. Ideologies are false certainties, flimflam, used by conmen. Accurate approximations are always best. 12/
