As I've explained many times, the climate crisis, isn't anthropogenic climate change as described by science, but the failure of our governments to act appropriately to the scientific warnings of the dangers that lie ahead. It would not be a crisis if governments had acted appropriately. 1/9

My latest thread on one page. Every rational person should be acknowledging the points I raise here, and addressing this. If anyone connected to government is ignoring this, and they all are, they have no right to be in government. skywriter.blue

I keep trying to clarify this, because opponents of more urgent climate action, whether they be outright deniers or "luke warmers", point to how the term climate crisis isn't used in the scientific literature. This is because science wrongly assumed that governments would respond rationally. 2/9 This very important to understand. Science, wrongly assumes that politicians and governments, will act rationally, in response to the warnings it gives, about the dangers of climate change. So they don't see it as a crisis, as they believe in the rationality of government. An unfounded belief. 3/9 Belief and faith, have no place in science. There is now 30+ years of empirical evidence, that proves that governments and politicians are not reacting rationally to the warnings science has issued. So why do "optimistic" scientists, irrationally believe in the rationality of government? 4/9 What will it take, to force many prominent scientists to declare that there is an actual climate crisis? Because the only basis for saying climate change is not a crisis and an existential threat to our civilization, is the unwarranted faith and belief that governments will respond rationally. 5/9 Yet, the belief that governments will respond rationally, to the dire dangers of climate change, and the existential threat it poses to our civilization, is unfounded faith. This faith is totally unwarranted, given the way governments have responded to UNFCCC, signed in 1992 - 34 years ago. 6/9 The repeated, cheque/check is in the post, false promise, used by governments, in the last 34 years, is they'll act on the climate crisis, just not yet. It's so palpably a lie, given that no government has ever taken concrete action in the last 34 years. In fact, they are all now, rowing back. 7/9 Therefore, on what basis, does even the most optimistic scientist have, for not using the term climate crisis, on the premise, it's not a crisis, if governments respond rationally and appropriately, to the evidence? Scientists are betraying the public when they refuse to say climate crisis. 8/9 Senior scientists, must call out our governments, and tell the public that our governments are not acting rationally or appropriately, to the warnings that science has given them. The public must get to know that our governments are dangerously reckless, irrational, and dishonest. 9/9 @georgemonbiot.bsky.social @zackpolanski.bsky.social @zacklabe.com @rahmstorf.bsky.social @kevinclimate.bsky.social @nataliegreenpeer.bsky.social @greenjennyjones.bsky.social @climatecrisisclub.org @svantethunberg.bsky.social @climatehuman.bsky.social @jksteinberger.bsky.social
