FFS Daily Mail No - the school classrooms were NOT used to teach “adult migrants” Your own article explains this TWICE - and yet your headline…?🙄 I covered this yesterday in a thread when it was just RW accounts lying on Twitter Now the DM are on it, let’s go again! 🧵 1/12

Quick background for those not in the bad place. A parent filmed some men apparently going in to get English lessons and claimed they were going into a primary school. In the background of the video was a sign mentioning a school This video obviously went viral with all the RW outrage. 2/13

So, the reality: Moorpark Community Learning centre, St James’ Primary School and the pre-5 nursery were built in 2014 as part of a £15million development. One giant building. But 3 SEPARATE entrances for each facility AND kept separate from each other inside too. 3/12 The community learning centre covers all sorts of adult learning courses: Wellbeing and personal development Adult literacy Digital skills Help with filling in forms, job searches etc Family learning English lessons And has been for 11 years now with no “backlash” 4/12

Someone sat outside the adult learning centre entrance👇🏼 filming a group of brown skinned men and claimed they were going into the primary school. The person filming and sharing will have known full well this wasn’t the main primary school entrance if they were a parent there. 5/12

The filming took place at the purple entrance. The main entrance for the primary school is the orange blob. Some children also enter on the opposite side (see next tweet) The entrance for the nursery is shown with the red icon. 6/12

The plans for the building show the various parts of the building, the entrances and how the building is divided up and used at different times of the day. There are secure internal doors that keep the community area separated from the classrooms. 7/12

No one using the community learning centre can access the primary school or nursery. And the Daily Mail knew this. They mention it twice. And they went for that shocking headline anyway. 8/12

That video posted by someone who knew full well they were separate facilities has already sparked protests Kids taken out of the school And now the Daily Mail fans those flames. The English classes have now been moved to protect the school from more trouble by the forever enraged crowd. 9/12 Adult learning centres being on the same grounds as schools and colleges is a thing up and down the country. You can chose to have a debate about whether that principle is a good thing if you like. But if you ONLY care because foreigners are using it, that says it all. 10/12 So please - when you see an outrageous headline - READ THE ARTICLE. That will almost always debunk the headline itself. It’s up to you if you choose to then go down a Google Maps and planning application portal rabbit hole to get the full picture!🤓😂 11/12 If you like what I do, feel free to sign up to my Substack: open.substack.com It’s completely free👍🏼 Although paid subscribers and coffee donations (buymeacoffee.com) really help!😘 12/12 (👇🏼me finding misinformation to debunk on Twitter!🤣🫣)
