AN IRANIAN NUCLEAR WEAPON IS NOW INEVITABLE For decades the Iranians held the possibility of them getting a nuclear weapon, like a red rag to a bull. The bull finally broke and arrived to demolish that threat. It has largely done so it would appear. What the attacks have achieved is finally convincing the new hardline regime (provided it survives which seems increasingly likely), that if it had a nuclear weapon none of these attacks would have occurred. They will realised the constant temptation to hit at them they engendered with their brinksmanship over decades, worried the Israeli government so deeply that it became an existential threat they could no longer stomach. Especially with the threats Iran made on many occasions, to end Israel’s existence. It might take them five years - I doubt that long, once this fight is over. But I know if I was in their shoes after what’s happened I would order a rapid crash and immensely secret program to scrape together what resources there are and build at least three weapons. Detonate one as evidence and keep the other two as a deterrent. Iran has nothing to lose, nothing. It knows that nuclear weapons ownership makes them invulnerable to an attack on this scale ever again. And that’s all they need to know and believe to drive them into it. Trump and Nethanyahu have let their fears and attitudes convince people who needed little convincing that a nuclear weapon is the way to stop such attacks. Afterall look what not having one has brought on their heads. Destruction and death. What more is there to lose? It takes very little once you have the basics to demonstrate a nuclear weapon and Iran has those already or can produce them over time. This war is what will make them do so.
