BREAKING: Republican attorneys general from Louisiana, Alabama, and Arkansas have filed two sweeping lawsuits targeting dozens of providers who ship abortion pills—and the blue states that protect them. One suit, filed against New York, Massachusetts, and California, asks the U.S. Supreme Court to end shield laws—which would allow the conservative states to extradite abortion providers (among other horrors).

The second suit, which names 30 providers, organizations, and pharmacies, seeks injunctions, damages—and threatens RICO claims down the line.

We knew this was coming: Republican AGs have been in a race to get shield laws in front of SCOTUS. The suits also rely on anti-abortion strategies I’ve been tracking for years—including lies about coercion, bogus studies on mifepristone’s safety, free speech attacks, and fetal personhood. I’ll have more in a newsletter going out shortly, but something to flag in the meantime: The AGs are seeking PATIENT INFORMATION, asking for “complete identification of the individuals...to whom [plaintiffs] prescribed and dispensed abortion drugs” to cross-check against Medicaid databases If you want more info, please make sure you're subscribed! I'll have an email going out in the next hour.
