Protecting Ukraine from Russian ballistic strikes is one of the main challenges for us and one of Ukraine's key vulnerabilities today. US-made Patriot air defense systems are the only reliable protection Ukraine has against Russian ballistic missiles⤵️
But there is a critical lack of both Patriot missiles and batteries. Winter is coming, and Russia, without a doubt, will continue its strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure to freeze Ukrainian cities and make them uninhabitable. Just yesterday,27 Iskander&4 Tsirkon missiles were launched at Ukraine.To confidently shoot down ballistic missiles,two Patriot missiles per 1 Iskander or Tsirkon are needed.Thus, just for that one day, Ukraine would have needed 62 Patriot missiles - the US produces less than 700 of them per year. Ukraine and a coalition of European countries are working on developing the Freyja air defense system. Very complicated negotiations with the United States on providing licenses to produce Patriot missiles are also in progress. One of the positive solutions would be if the US provided ally licenses for the EU, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
