This Is Not Happening, Nor Will It Ever Happen. thread. first off, this is a citizen petition filed with the FDA, not anything resembling or approaching a federal law. the needle article claims that this would be able to be implemented by "regulatory fiat" without an act of Congress, and like. source ??? thats a wild fucking claim to make secondly, petitions filed with the FDA are denied in almost 90% of cases that received a response. a study performed in 2016 noted that on average, "these petitions required 2.85 years for a final agency decision, and many decisions remain pending 10–13 years after their initial submission."

thirdly, look at the rest of The Needle's site. look at the kinds of articles it publishes. this is very clearly a site that is engaged in the business of spreading fear about the state of trans rights in america. it is their Only Content. it's another Erin Reed. you don't do anything for yourself as a trans person by being aware of every single bill ever considered in a state legislature and every single petition filed with the government. all that will do is drive you mad. i'm not saying to bury your head in the sand, very much not, it's a very scary time to be trans in this country, but you also should be aware of what is actually a problem, what is actually something you have to worry about, and what is yet another nothingburger. you can't fight the actual fight if you're too busy swinging at ghosts.
